How to with Visual Boy Advance

Many people will sure have problems, how to get working some game at emulator, or how was letely disccused at pikachu, how to do, to get berry raising. This manual, that is quite long and very detailed, should probably solve this.
Thanks to this, that in the late times I get many manuals, how to with pokemon games, and to other things also, new section was launched - Hints, Tips, Instructions.
From this reason I have moved to this section also the instructions for Leaf Green I. - III. parts. .
And because we will talk in this article about VBA, it's necesary to put here the new version of VBA and it is 1.8.0.

I was asked to write here some review of VBA link. If you will wonder, why am I doing the review right about this, you would be surprised how many people don't even know how to launch Yellow in it, let alone how to link. So we begin somehow few informations about.

Tested version 1.7.3 link.
This emulator can support to hook up so called link cable and exchange from GBA game to GBA game. It's also only emulator, where you could set real time, it means the time, when for example in Emerald will raise berry or when in Crystal will change day and night. This emulator is more suitable for playing GBA games, not that it would impossible to get running GBC or GB games on it, but if you will want to play these games and then link, it would be not possible to link them. For GBC and GB games I suggest the emulator No§gmb.
And now to the emulator. We will now describe particular functions and what they are defined for.

The first fold File
In this we can start the game, save (but I rather use Shift + F1 for this), fold of the last played games, make actual screenshot (it's usefull when you talk where to find something) and then also you can import or export various things and mainly you will find here informations about given ROM.
Second fold Options
You can configure here different usefull things:
Frame skip: this fold is used for the setting of the speed of game and by how many frames the game should jump.
Video: this fold is used for setting what direct to use and what resolution it will have. I suggest to let it as it is.
Emulator: I suggest to have checked these values - synchronize, automatic IPS patching and Real Time Clock. Automatic IPS patching is meant for this - to get the game patched, if there's added patch to it. And Real Time Clock is used as I have described before. And if you'll manage in the folder "save type" to get checked Flash 128, so do it.
Sound: Set it, as you wish. Me personaly turn off the sound and turn on the Winamp.
GameBoy: I reccomend to let it checked. Automatic and Real Colors.
Priority: I haven't understand them, what they are meant for, but I have let there checked Highest. We will see what it will develope into.
Filter: It's not a filtering of game as are emails in mail client, but this is used to set how will the screen look like, as if like LCD monitor or old television. Here I recommend to let crossed AdvanceMAME Sccale 2x - that is to say the most perfect color smoothening.
Joypad: hey, are you such a lamers, you can't manage to set your keyboard for a game?
Language: set the language
Link: So this button is used for the setting of Wireless Adapter and to that, if it should change by the net or just one PC or even by the internet, but I have to disappoint you, it's not working through the internet! You would need very strong internet connection, because it's not only sending the data of your position, where are you on the map (as for example in Counter Strike), but all complete data, which will jam the internet link very fast! How to link, we will describe later.

The third folder Cheats:
It's used for cheating (as we wouldn't know). For the cheating we have the cheat list.
And here we will choose the Gameshark and we can start cheating.

The fourth folder is Tools
It's used for getting to the memory of game etc. This is used especially to these that know how to hack in it - programmers, that are doing with it.

The latest folder Help I probably don't need to explain.

And we will now start with linking. At first start two emulators and in each of them look at Options -> Emulator if there's unchecked the button Pause when inactive Windows - this must be unchecked. In each emulator choose correct keyboard for two players and finally look at Options -> link if there's in settings checked Single computer. And then launch in every emulator GBA game, go to the center and it is!
If we want to play across the net, then you have to in Options -> Link -> options choose Network and rightly set the IP address of the searched PC.
I recommend to do the linking at the computer with processor 1Ghz and more or you'll not move from a place.

Use automatic Patch: This button is not very reliable, it's used for the patching of a game if there's something wrong or if we want to play edited game. And also it's not very reliable to have set saving through type flash 128 (but leave it checked there). I recommend to patch the game directly with the program Snestl 1.2
You choose in it "Use IPS" and then in the left corner (Tree structure) choose at first the file with ending *.IPS and then at last the concrete game. That all is good to know only with FireRed where don't work saving through the backpack. Then at the end of game after you have done league, you won't be able to continue at the game. By the other games is not needed to patch the game!
If you have already the game started and you have realised, that you can't save the game through the backpack, I have to disappoint you, you will have to start the game again, because the patch wasn't appliqued to the Save with Shift + F1 and it's not even possible! But if it didn't happen to you and you didn't even need to patch it, then you have set the emulator well.

Drawbacks
Emulator is relatively complicated, eats a lot of CPU in the system. I don't recommend play on it with weaker types of computers. I suggest to download the latest version of Visual Boy Advance.
Advantages
It can link, it handles the real time on the raise of berry and on the changes of day and hight. And it has one mysterious button and that is Speed, that can speed up the game.
