The Wonderful World of Pokemon Movies
Pokemon is an abbreviation for pocket monsters. The Pokemon series originally started as a
video game series by Nintendo and quickly expanded into a fully fledged franchise covering
movies, pokemon animation cartoon series, pokemon cards and other pokemon merchandise.
The series captures the adventures of Ash Ketchum and his human and pokemon friends as
they travel all over the world to catch new Pokemon. In this process, they face dangers in the
form of pokemon trainers, fights in Pokemon tournaments and criminal organizations.
Release of new Pokemon movies invariably corresponds to a new season of the popular
cartoon series. Till date, fourteen seasons have been aired in the US and thirteen Pokemon
movies have been released. The plot of each movie is similar involving a legendary
Pokemon. Pokemon movies are also used to promote the Pokemon series. Mewtwo strikes
back was the first movie in the Pokemon series to be released in the US in 1999. It was
followed by The Power of One released in 2000. Then came Spell of the unknown in 2001.
The next release was Celebi: Voice of the forest, in 2002. In 2003, the movie Heroes: Latios
and Latias was released. The next year saw the release of Jirachi Wish Maker followed
by Destiny Deoxys, in 2005. Lucario and the Mystery of mew was released in 2006.
2007 saw the release of Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. In 2008, The Rise of
Darkrai was released. Giratina and the Sky Warrior was released in 2009. In 2010, Arceus
and the Jewel of Life was released followed by Zoroark: Master of Illusions. In December
2011, two Pokemon movies will release in the US. Pokemon the Movie: White Victini and
Zekrom and Pokemon the movie: Black Victini and Reshiram would be screened in the US in
December 2011. The two movies have already been released in Japan in Jul 2011.
Movies on Pokemon are known to be big hits amongst children. All movies follow the same
storyline with Ash travelling from one city to another in his quest to become the worlds best
Pokemon trainer. In this quest, he must overcome a new Pokemon adversary and his own
fears and finally win over a legendary Pokemon. In the end, Ash manages to do that and add
to his collection of Pokemon. The title song of the movies and the series,Catch them all,
truly signifies the gist of the move and the series.
